Diagnosis
Colonies meandroid; valleys from monoserial to polyserial. Calices distinct, connected in the valleys in thamnasterioid manner. Collins tholiform with incomplete synapticular wall at the middle, septa in the collins subconfluent and non-confluent. Columella monotrabecular. Septa regularly perforated, distal margin moniliform, septal faces with menianes. Dissepiments thin-walled, extended. Synapticulae present.
Description
Colony of the type species was well characterized by Koby (1888:405; 1905:134). Roniewicz 1966: pl. 17, fig. 4, and pl. 18: 2, 3, 5 displayed colony structure on the example of C. minima and C. baltovensis in thin sections.
Comparisons
Similar in corallite structure to Eocomoseris Melnikova, 1993, from which differs in having collins. In colony structure similar to Meandrophyllia, but differing from that genus in pennular, not granular micromorphology of septal lateral sides.
Remarks
One species was described from the Middle Jurassic of India , above 10 species form the Late Jurassic of Europe and one or two species the Lower Cretaceous of Europe
Distribution
- South Asia; Middle Jurassic
- Western Europe; Late Jurassic
- Central Europe; Late Jurassic
- Southern Europe; Early Cretaceous
