Ksiazkiewiczia

Morycowa, 1976, p. 80

Type Species

Ksiazkiewiczia lanckoronensis Morycowa, 1976: 80; Original Designation Morycowa, 1976: 80

Type Specimen: Holotype; UJ 4 P 1; Verified; Unknown

Type Locality: Lower Aptian of Poland.

The holotype of the type species is housed at UJ (Krakow) under 4P 1.

Diagnosis

Colonial, plocoid. Gemmation extracalicinal. Costosepta compact, thick, formed by simple and compound trabeculae, nonconfluent to subconfluent, arranged radially, dentate marginally, spinose laterally. Columella absent. Endothecal dissepiments abundant, vesicular peripherally, mainly subhorizontal and large axially. Exothecal dissepiments subhorizontal. Wall parathecal to septothecal.

Remarks

Reyeros Navarro (1963) described specimens from the Aptian of Mexico which she assigned to the genus Procyathophora Weissermel, 1928. However, in having thick, compact costosepta, which are spinose laterally, they rather correspond the genus Ksiazkiewiczia Morycowa (Procyathophora lacks costae).

Distribution

  • Central America; Early Cretaceous
