Classification
Description
(From the holotype) Massive thamnasterioid corallum. No holotheca observed. Corallite series in rings produced by intracalicinal increase. Radial elements are compact or subcompact biseptal sheets free or anastomosed, rather bicuneiform . They are straight, curved, bent or sinuous but generally straight in the internal part, slightly unequal in thickness. Distal edge badly preserved. The inner edge shows some detached trabecukae that participate in a weak parietal non prominent columella, Lateral faces show pennules like structures with pennular rim not always clearly turned upward (clearer on the paratype). No palis. Microstructure unknown. Hexameral symmetry not deciphered, bilateral symmetry related to the intracalicular budding band characterised by the pattern of anastomoses. Endotheca made of dissepiment sloping down toward the calicular center, synapticulae present, wall absent.
Remarks
The type material shows a great similarity with the coral identified Fungiastraea cf oculata of the same locality described by Alloiteau in the same initial publication. One nominal species and one citation known.
