Cassianastraea

Cassianastraea Volz, 1896:95 is a not a scleractinian.

Primarily, by Laube 1865 considered to be a stylinid, the taxon was analysed by Montanaro-Gallitelli 1979 (published 1980) and assigned to a new family Cassianastraeidae and new order Lemniscaterina of the Hydrozoa. Its synonymic taxa are Procyathophora Weissermel,1928, Elasmophyllia Cuif,1973 (homonym of Elasmophyllia d'Archiardi,1875), and Hydrosclera Gaetani and Fois,1979.

Remarks

Cassianastraea is known from the Anisian (China), Ladinian (Europe, North America), Carnian (Europe) and Early Norian (Europe: Northern Calcareous Alps).
