Description
Branching phaceloid colony with a knobbly aspect produced by growth (annual ?) rhythms. Intracalicular increase. Calice irregular in outline, not circular. Radial elements are abundantly but irregularly perforated and anastomosing costosepta. Simple trabeculae 120-150 microns in diameter. Fan system. Thin equal finely dentate costae, Numerous synapticulae. Rudimentary parietal subpapillose columella. The wall is a pennular envelope.
Remarks
The absence of endotheca described by Alloiteau 1957, p. 178 is doubtful. Gill 1967 described clear pennular and endothecate corals under this name. 14 nominal species and a non nominotypical subgenus Aggomorphastraea were described in this genus which deserves a revision.
