Triadophyllum

Weissermel, 1925: 25

Recent revision made by Dieter Weyer 2007 proves that Triadophyllum is synonymous with Palaeocyathus Foerste, 1888, and represents a rugosan coral from the sub-family Enterolasmatinae Hill, 1981, Order Stauriida Verril, 1865.

Type Species

Triadophyllum posthumum Weissermel, 1925:25; Monotypy Weissermel, 1925:25

Type Specimen: Holotype; BGR-Berlin-X10137; Verified; Dry Preserved

Type Locality: Ruedersdorf quarry, Pleistocene erratic boulder from the Silurian of Baltoscandia ( Weyer 2007:169)

The holotype was sectionned and the structure typical of the rugosan coral was presented on a series of figures Weyer 2007: Fig.1 F-H. D.Weyer present a fascinating history of this coral. The specimen is housed at the Bundesanstalt f. Geologie und Rohstoffe, Aussenstelle Berlin.
