Classification
Description
Massive cerioid colony. Strictly polygonal calices. Striated epitheca present around each corallite and covering regularly beaded vertical "costae". Regular growth bands. Pachytheca with a zigzag median line (the wall is not really shared between two adjacent corallites as usually in Scleractinia; for this reason it could be described as phaceloid). Marginarium. Taschenknospung. Radial elements are smooth, free or anastomosted septa s.s, flexuous, straight or tortuous. Lonsdaleoid septa present. Septal apparatus with a strong bilateral symmetry. A septum much thicker than others and swollen in the center like a columella. Eccentric axial pit. Large dissepiments steeply sloping down from the wall and climbing again against the columellar septum. No peritheca, no synapticule, no palus.
