polycentric increase mode

Summary

mode of intracalicular increase shown by corals whose individual corallites are present only as corallite centres without their own thecal walls (e.g. thamnasterioid corals). By default, extracalicular increase cannot apply, so polycentric increase is deemed to be intracalicular since it takes place within the theca that encloses the entire corallum.
