interstitial increase ii mode
Summary
apparently extracalicular increase in which new corallites are intercalated between the walls of adjacent cerioid parent corallites. However, precise information on the initiation of new corallites is often lacking, and in the absence of that, the appearance of new corallites in an interstitial position can be explained by intramural or ab-mural increase, or by intracalicular non-parricidal peripheral increase extremely close to the parent corallite wall. See also Interstitial increase, Intramural increase, Peripheral increase.
