Summary

external shape of coralla with thin, flattened, sheet-like form. Underside surfaces are usually without corallites, and contiguous with, but not necessarily encrusting (i.e. attached to) the substrate. Platy coralla may intergrade with foliaceous forms. See also Encrusting.
