Summary
external shape of a colonial coralla consisting of thin laminae variously curved, undulating, vase-like or in whorls, each lamina entirely covered on one side, or both, by corallites. Foliaceous coralla in life generally rise above the substrate. They may intergrade with frondose or platy forms.
