Summary
a corallite not enclosed by a complete thecal structure, or only partially enclosed by a thecal structure. Hence in transverse view or section, the limits of the corallite are wholly or partially undefined. Groups of adjacent indefinite corallites represent a polycentric condition (e.g. aphroid and thamnasterioid corals). See also Definite centre, Indefinite corallite system.
