tabula

Summary

pl. Tabulae, adj. Tabular transverse partition extending across the corallite, generally flat, domed upwards (vesicular), or dish-like to sagging. In rugosans in particular, when dissepiments and tabellae are present, the tabulae do not usually extend into their respective zones. The zone occupied by tabulae in rugosans and tabulate corals is the tabularium (pl. tabularia). Tabulae can also occur within the coenosteum of plocoid corals, i.e. exothecally.
