rejuvenescence

Summary

re-initiated growth following a 'die-back' (i.e. apparently moribund) phase. Rejuvenescence is marked by a widening out of a corallite or broadening of the lateral extent of a colony, above a substantial restriction in girth. Rejuvenescence can sometimes be regularly spaced (rhythmic).
