Type Locality: Recent: Philippines

In describing the genus Milne Edwards and Haime (1848x) did not include any species. In 1848y they illustrated the species as pl. 7, fig. 4, but with no description, which nonetheless is a valid original description according to the ICZN. The species was finally described by Milne Edwards and Haime, 1849x, p. 183

Diagnosis

Corallum solitary or forming small reptoid colonies, the corallites united by a thin coensoteum; theca costate; axial edges of septa finely dentate; no pali; columella papillose; endotheca absent.

Comparisons

Differs from Culicia in lacking an epitheca

Remarks

Three Recent and one fossil species (see Chevalier, 1961; Cairns et al., 1999).
