Type Specimen: Holotype; MOZ P 4803; Verified; Dry Preserved

Type Locality: Los Pozones (Neuquén Province – Argentina) Middle Bajocian, Sonninia espinazitensis and Emileia multiformis zone.

Diagnosis

Solitary corallum; cylindrical. Narrow and elliptical calicular fossa. Biggest costosepta with curved or sigmoid axial edges, not anastomosed but touching each with others and attached by dissepiments. Abundant vesicular endotheca crossing the axial region. Columella absent. Compound thick trabeculae in which the fibre shaves are arranged alternately or without any particular order along the trabecular axis (= Spicate trabeculae)

Comparisons

Like Montlivaltia but differing by endotheca and by trabecular structure Like Miscellosmilia, Axosmilia and Aulophyllia by the absence of a columella.

Remarks

The name “Spicata trabeculae” was propose by Morsch 1994 (Fossil Cnidaria and Porifera Newsletter, 23 (1.1):50) and by Morsch 1996 (Geobios 29(6):695) for “trabécule en épi” described in the genus creation in 1991
