Classification

Description

(from the syntype) Massive meandroid (nearly phacelo-meandroid) corallum with closed valleys separated by deep and wide ambulacra. Distinct centers. Peritheca between valleys covered with finely granulated rows. Lower face covered by a smooth tectura. Radial elements compact, free, bicuneiform, straight, highly unequal, typically rhipidogyrid in shape. Inner edge often enlarged in T, auricules present. Lateral faces covered with numerous strong granules. No palis. Hexameral symmetry not deciphered, bilateral symmetry obviously demonstrated by the elongation of calices and by the lamellar columella. Endotheca not observed. synapticulae absent. Thick wall.

Comparisons

A probable transition exists with the clearly phaceloid genus Aplosmilia. The wide and deep peritheca allows a distinction with Psammogyra.

Remarks
