Amblophyllia is a transitory morphogenus between Montlivaltia and Thecosmilia or Montlivaltia and Complexastrea. For more details see Lathuilière, 1996a, 1996b in which the junior synonym Coenotheca is used. It is often nomenclaturally treated as a synonym of Montlivaltia.
