Distichomeandra spinosa Cuif, 1976: 133, text-fig. 20, pl. 14, fig.4; Monotypy Cuif, 1976: 133
Type Specimen: Holotype; MNHN ; Not Traced; Dry Preserved
Type Locality: Anatolia, Taurus Mountains, Turkey. Early Norian, Late Triassic
Classification
Diagnosis
Emended by Roniewicz 1989:78. Colony cerioid to meandroid. Septa nonconfluent or subconfluent. Wall septothecal-synapticular or septothecal, if present. Septal ornamentation granular. Columella poor, made from rare offsets of inner septal margins, or lacking. Endotheca vesicular, abundant. Increase intracalicular by subequal division without skeletal connections between the centers. Microstructure of margarophylliid type.
Description
Morphological and microstructural characteristics of the genus based on Early Norian species was presented in Cuif 1976, and was completed in Roniewicz 1989:75-84 by observation of Rhaetian species and comparison of the microstructure of Distichomeandra and Margarosmilia.
Comparisons
From morphologically similar Isastrea essentially differs in septal microstructure of the margarophylliid, not montlivaltiid type.
Remarks
Four species are known.
