A junior synonym of Deltocyathus orientalis Duncan, 1876, not D. australiensis Duncan, 1870 (see Cairns, 1997)
Classification
Diagnosis
Corallum bowl-shaped, circular in cross section, up to 17 mm in GCD; theca imperforate; costae ridged and serrate, originating by trifurcation; septa hexamerally arranged in 4 cycles; P1-3 in 3 crowns; columella papillose.
Comparisons
Similar to and once combined with Peponocyathus, this genus differs in not having transverse division and having serrate costae.
Remarks
This genus and family was monographed by Cairns (1997), which included a phylogenetic analysis based on morphology. Six species, including 2 Recent (Cairns, 1997).
