Remarks

Alloiteau (1957, p. 197) gave a description of the holotype of Dactylosmilia d'Orbigny without any illustration. Based on his description it remains unclear how much this genus resembles the genus Cladophyllia. An attempt to study the type specimen of Dactylosmilia in the years of 2000 and 2009 failed because the specimen could not be found at the Institute de Paléontologie du Museum d'Histoire Naturelle de Paris, France. Therefore, the position of the genus Dactylosmilia d'Orbigny cannot be clarified.
