Diagnosis
Solitary, high, cylindrical coralla; fossa elongated; septa thick, differentiated in length into four size orders, septal sides with granulation, lonsdaleoid septa present; endotheca made of large, subtabuloid dissepiments obliquely descending from the wall and traversing the lumen; columlla lacking; wall epithecal.
Description
Described and illustrated by Roniewicz 1976: 41.
Comparisons
The genus is characterized by coralla of considerable dimensions (d ca. 30mm). From externally similar Axosmiliopsis Alloiteau, 1957 differs in the endotheca formed by large dissepiments and lonsdaleoid septa; from Cheilosmilia Koby 1888 differs in the corallite inner structure (septa, endotheca) not resembling the amphiastreid one typical of that genus.
Remarks
Original description by Roniewicz (1976); up to now a monospecific genus.
Distribution
- Central Europe; Late Jurassic
