Type Specimen: Holotype; ; Not Traced; Unknown

Type Locality: Upper Cenomanian of Germany (Dresden-Plauen, Saxon)

The holotype of the type species is housed at MMG (Dresden) under SAK 6235.

Remarks

In having caryophyllid-flabellid structures and showing the very rare parricidal budding type, the genus Colonycyathus closely corresponds to the genus Microsmilia. Therefore, their synonmy is suggested.
