Type Locality: Lower Cenomanian of France (Charante-Maritime).
The type material is housed at MNHN (Paris) under 10932.
Remarks
Recent re-investigations carried out in 2009 revealed that the syntypes of Carantophyllum arnaudi Alloiteau might consist of specimens that belong to different groups, like caryophyllids and heterocoeniids. Further examination of the type material, including the study of thin sections, would be needed to clarify the position of this taxon.
