Comoseriidae

De Fromentel, 1861, p. 60 and 62

De Fromentel (1861, p. 60 and 62) created the family "Famille----Comosériniens". Later, Gregory (1900, p. 30 and 153) used the latinized form of its subfamily level ("Subfamily: Comoserinae" [sic]). Throughout his 1900-work, regarding the family-level taxa, Gregory provided authors' names only for the names of the Family but not for Subfamily taxa. He, however, made a clear reference to Fromentel's 1861-work in the synonym list of the nominate taxon, the genus Comoseris d'Orbigny, 1849 (see Gregory, 1900, p. 154). The Subfamily Comoserinae [sic] was later also mentioned by other authors, such as Wells (1933, p. 96 [178]). Since the first half of the 20 century (e.g., Vaughan and Wells, 1943; Alloiteau, 1952; Geyer, 1954; Wells, 1956; Roniewicz, 1976; Morycowa and Roniewicz, 1990; Turnsek, 1997; Morycowa and Decrouez, 2006; Pandey et al., 2007; Morycowa and Masse, 2009; Baron-Szabo, 2014), the genus Comoseris has been placed together with the genus Microsolena in the same family (Microsoleniidae). Because Fromentels' family Comoseriidae represents the senior synonym, it has priority over the family Microsoleniidae.

Comoseriidae De Fromentel, 1861, p. 60 and 62 is a replacement taxon for Microsolenidae Koby, 1889.
