Latomeandridae Loser, 1998 (ex "Latomeandridae de Fromentel, 1861") is a junior synonym (available and invalid), see Latomeandridae Alloiteau, 1952.

De Fromentel (1861, p. 61) created the taxon "Famille.---Latimeandriens". Later, Boelsche (1866, p. 449) introduced the Latinized form of this family (=Latimeandridae Fromentel, 1861) which, however, has never been adopted by workers interested in this group. Subsequently, the nominate taxon of this group, the genus Latimeandra, was merged with Latomeandra d'Orbigny (ms in Milne Edwards and Haime 1849, p.271), as its junior synonym (e.g., Felix, 1914; Vaughan and Wells, 1943; Alloiteau, 1952; Wells, 1956). Based on the senior synonym Latomeandra, Alloiteau (1952, p. 672) created the family Latomeandridae which, according to ICNZ article [40.2] is to be maintained because it replaced the family-name of the junior synonym type-genus before 1961 and has been in prevailing usage. Therefore, it has priority over Latimeandridae de Fromentel, 1861. Fairly recently, the family name Latomeandridae de Fromentel, 1861, was introduced by Loser (1998, p. 81). The same family name was used by that author in multiple works, either authored or co-authored by him (Loser and Mohanti, 2004, p. 588; Loser, 2006, p. 48; Loeser and Ferry, 2006, p. 483; ; Tomas, Loser and Salas, 2008, p. 527), clearly indicating the intent to recognize that name. However, according to ICZN article [33.2.3], the name change from Latimeandridae de Fromentel, 1861, to Latomeandridae de Fromentel, 1861, represents an unjustified emendation of the former. It is available and it has its own author and date (=Latomeandridae Loser, 1998). Furthermore, it is a junior objective synonym of the name in its original spelling and enters into homonymy: Latomeandridae Loser, 1998, represents and an objective junior synonym and an objective junior homonym of Latimeandridae de Fromentel, 1861.
