Batophyllia

Alloiteau, 1956

Bathophyllia is an available name. "Alloiteau 1956" is a card of Paleontologia Universalis NS n° 84-1956, an international set of published cards (initially directed by Zittel and advertised in english, french and german) used as an available publication for other zoological groups such as ammonites. Type Locality: Oxfordian from Champlitte (Haute-Saône; France)

Description

Phaceloid corallum, calices with a circular to elongate irregular outline. No epitheca. Intracalicular increase. Corallites covered with fine subequal costae finely and regularly dentate. Radial elements are compact, free or anastomosed, straight or curved, thinner than the costae. Lateral face with small acute granules randomly distributed. Inner edges dentate. Major septa participate in a parietal spongy columella. Endotheca made of numerous vesiculose dissepiments steeply inclined. Septothecal wall by enlargement of outer edge of septa.

Remarks

The holotype is a set of independent reworked branches. Most of them belong probably to the same taxon, nevertheless a small dendroid corallum with smaller branches is also present.
