The family Placocoeniidae Alloiteau, 1952, represents a junior homonym of the family Placocoeniidae based on Duncan's alliance Placocoenioda. Because Alloiteau's family is considered to be a junior synonym of the family Montastraeidae, the creation of a replacement taxon for Alloiteau's family is not needed.
