Aulastraeoporidae Alloiteau, 1957 is a junior synonym (available and invalid), see Heterocoeniidae Oppenheim, 1930.
Solitary and colonial. Septa small in number, often thick, compact, radially or bilaterally arranged, with lateral extensions (apophyses) present or absent. One major septum developed or absent.
