Type Specimen: Holotype; USNM I32703; Verified; Dry Preserved

Type Locality: Late Cretaceous: Tennessee, USA



Corallum solitary, free, and trochoid; costae coarsely granular; epitheca absent; Pourtal├Ęs plan present; columella solid.


Differs from Heteropsammia by having granular costae and a solid columella.


This genus and family were monographed by Cairns (2001), which included a phylogenetic analysis based on morphology. Genus monotypic.
