Type Locality: Oxfordian (Hypocorallien of Etallon, Upper Jurassic) from Calabri (Switzerland)

Classification

Description

Ramose thamnasterioid corallum. In transverse section of branches, concentrical lines created by lateral fusion of pennular rims. Intracalicinal increase. Radial elements perforate and pennular, anastomosed. Distal edge moniliform, inner edge anastomosed, lateral faces with robust pennulae, no pali. Microstructure unknown. Hexameral and bilateral symmetries not deciphered. Endotheca not observed. No columella, synapticulae present, no wall.

Remarks

Nine nominal species known in Jurassic. They don't all belong to Dendraraea . Five Cretaceous nominal species were formerly attributed to this genus (Löser 2000).
