Stiboria
Etallon in Thurmann et Etallon 1864, p. 386
Type Species
Stiboria suprajurensis Etallon in Thurmann et Etallon 1864, p. 387, pl. 57 fig. 1; Monotypy
Type Specimen: Syntype; n°?; Lost; Unknown
Type Locality: Kimmeridgian (Upper Jurassic) of Alle (Ajoie, Switzerland)
The name Stiboria appears in Etallon 1862 as a nomen nudum. Etallon refers to figures which were published two years later in the second part of the Lethea bruntrutana of Thurmann et Etallon (1864). The first and last figure ever published is given here (pl. 57 fig. 1 of Thurmann and Etallon 1864).
Description
Massive meandroid corallum with rather short valleys, centres indistinct. Collines with a granulated ambulacrum. Epitheca present. Radial elements thick, slightly exsert, compact (?). Distal edge dentate (3-4 teeth toward the inner edge). Columella absent.
Remarks
The specimens from Etallon are the only ones ever found. As far as I know, they are not preserved in collection. The description by Alloiteau (1957 p. 319) is only an interpretation of the Etallon's description. In such circumstances, this taxon is difficult to use.
Distribution
- Western Europe; Late Jurassic
