Type Locality: Pleistocene: Messina, Italy

There are three subgenera, this being the nominal subgenus; see Zibrowius (1991) for type species deposition; Chevalier (1961) discusses some fossil species

Diagnosis

Corallum solitary, bowl-shaped, free; septotheca costate; broad paliform lobes usually present before all but last septal cycle; columella papillose or a solid fusion of axial septal edges.

Remarks

Approximately 14 species, half known as fossils.
