Classification
Diagnosis
Colony plate-like. Calices in straight or meandering series. Valleys deep, extremely narrow (0.8-2.5mm). Centers of calices poorly marked. Collins tectiform with sharp septothecal ridges.In the collins septa nonconfluent. Columella lacking. Septa short and thick. Distal border with low denticles.
Description
Description and illustrations of this interesting coral were given by Stanley and Whalen, 1989(see above), and Caruthers and Stanley, 2008:486,fig.5.19 and 5.25.
Comparisons
The rectilinear morphotype is similar to Thamnasteria (s.l.) furukawai Kanmera, 1964, from which it differs in poorly marked centers and in a lack of columella. The genus differs from Andrazella Cuif in calicular series with poorly marked centers.
Remarks
Only one species is known.
