Type Specimen: Lectotype; MNHN B12248; Verified; Dry Preserved

Type Locality: Oxfordian (Upper Jurassic) of Chatel Censoir (France)

The lectotype was figured in Cottreau 1931, p. 172/40, It is a non sectioned dry specimen of a nearly complete small colony with a single long sinuous valley. Beauvais (1964) proposed a new diagnose based on a now invalid “neotype”.

Classification

Description

Massive meandroid corallum with long sinuous valley(s). Valleys separated by perithecal dissepimental tissues. Intracalicular increase. Radial elements are compact costosepta, mostly free, typically rhipidogyrid, usually straight, occasionally curved, strongly unequal in thickness. Distal edge smooth, inner edge often enlarged in T, lateral faces with non aligned granules. No pali. Endotheca made of dissepiments. Long lamellar columella running nearly all along the valley. Synapticules absent, wall made by thickening deposits between enlarged septa.

Remarks

See Beauvais 1964 and Eliasova 1973 who pointed out the presence of apophysal septa. 11 nominal species for Jurassic and one for Cretaceous
