Archeoanthophyllum paradiseopsis Andri, Carlone and Rossi, p. 238 fig. 2-3; Original Designation

Type Specimen: Holotype; MSNM MM i10819 (CH3); Not Traced; Unknown

Type Locality: Formazione della Terrata. Probably Upper Jurassic from San Sebastiano (L'Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy)

15 specimens MMi10819 to MM i10833 are known (Civico Museo di Storia naturale di Milano)



Phaceloid corallum with cylindrical smooth parallel corallites. Radial elements are 6 S1 compact, straight septa of a constant thickness. Distal edge unknown, inner edge anastomosed to the axial structure, lateral faces not ornamented, no pali. Microstructure unknown. Clear hexameral symmetry, no bilateral symmetry. Endotheca made of tabulae. Styliform columella. Thick wall interpreted by the authors as a pachytheca.


The axial structure is highly recristallized and interpreted by the authors as a columella with an internal columellar canal. One nominal species
