Type Specimen: Holotype; ZPAL IGD no. 3634; Verified; Thin Section
Type Locality: Say Sedek creek, Alichur Valley, SE Pamirs. Hettangian-Sinemurian, Early Jurassic.
In addition to the holotype, five topotypes were figured in Melnikova 1975: pl. 2: 2-6.
Classification
Diagnosis
: Phaceloid, increasing by lateral budding. Wall, thick, epithecal. Septa wedge-like, differentiated into three size orders distributed after six-fold symmetry; the S1 septa thick and reaching the center, but not coalescing; the S2 septa shorter and slightly thinner; the S3 septa observed in adult corallites, about one-third of the S1 in length. Endotheca made of tabuloid and vesicular dissepiments. Microstructural traces in the form of a dark mid-septal line. Septal faces smooth
Description
Development of the septal apparatus was analysed based on multiple transverse sections, and the process illustrated in a series of the following pictures in Melnikova 1975: pl. 2: 1, 3, 4a,4б.
Comparisons
From related genus Archaeosmilia Melnikova differs in phaceloid growth form.
Remarks
Only the type species is known.
