Palaeophyllia
Alloiteau, 1957, p. 108
Type Species
Montlivaltia pocillum Fromentel 1864, pl. 5 fig. 5, 5a; Original Designation
Type Specimen: Lectotype; MNHN M03525; Verified; Dry Preserved
Type Locality: Oxfordian of Champlitte (Haute-Saône) France
Description
Solitary subcylindrical to trochoid attached corallum. No epitheca. Calice very deep. Radial elements are compact, bicuneiform free costo-septa. Weak torsion of septa in the axial region. The distal edge is ornamented by large teeth or rather festoons. Lateral faces show small granules aligned in subvertical rows, not in real carinae. These rows are more numerous than festoons. Endotheca made of vesicular steeply inclined dissepiments, less inclined near the axial zone. Parathecal wall. No synapticules. No columella.
Remarks
The fig. 62 in Alloiteau 1957 is rather imaginative. This author mentioned the absence of the exotheca. It is difficult to understand in a clearly parathecal wall. Known only from Oxfordian of Champlitte
Distribution
- Western Europe; Late Jurassic
