Palaeocyathus Alloiteau, 1956, n° 86 is a junior homonym (unavailable), see Palaeocyathus Foerste 1888 (the senior homonym).
Palaeocyathus is an unavailabale name, junior homonym of Palaeocyathus Foerste 1888. A nomen novum was erected by Lathuilière, Charbonnier and Pacaud 2017: Gillismilia.

Classification
Description
Solitary discoid corallum. Epitheca weakly folded covering a little more than half of the basal face. Calice circular in outline. Radial elements are prominent, compact, straight costo-septa. Distal edge ornamented by some regular wide festoons corresponding to the variations in thickness. No palis but some detached columns. Hexameral symmetry easy to decipher especially with the external part of radial elements. Endotheca not observed. Columella formed by teeth fused to inner edges of S1 septa; other cycles show free septa. Wall parathecal or septothecal.

The external prominence of septa and general morphology distinguishes Palaeocyathus of other Liassic Stylophyllids
Remarks
Presently only the holotype is known.
