Type Specimen: Lectotype; ; Not Traced; Unknown
Type Locality: Upper Santonian of Austria (Neffgraben, Gosau Group).
The lectotype is housed at NHMW (Vienna) under 1864/0040/1379, Felix collection. Additional original material (syntypes) are housed at GBA (Vienna), Felix collection, and NHMW (Vienna), Felix collection.
Classification
Remarks
Beauvais (1982, vol. 2, p. 135) places his newly created genus Hydnophorastraea in the Family Synastreidae. However, re-investigation of the type material (Baron-Szabo, between the years 1999 and 2009) revealed that is showed agariciid skeletal structures.
