Type Locality: Unknown (probably Mediterranean)

Type species best described by Zibrowius (1980).

Classification

Diagnosis

Corallum colonial, corallites extracalicularly budded from a thick common basal coenosteum; corallites cylindrical and stout; septotheca costate and granular; a crown of pali occurs before penultimate septal cycle; columella papillose or fascicular; endotheca absent.

Comparisons

Similar to Caryophyllia but colonial, from a basal coenosteum.

Remarks

Genus partially reviewed by Zibrowius (1980) and Cairns (1999). Several fossil species 8 Recent species.
