Classification
Diagnosis
Colonial, massive or subramose, plocoid. Gemmation extracalicinal, corallites united basally by striate or spinose coenosteum. Septa irregularly perforated, dentate laterally. Columella papillose. Endothecal dissepiments thin.
Comparisons
Like Astrangia, but corallum often massive with plocoid calice arrangement; coenosteum between corallites (peritheca) striate or spinose.
Remarks
About 6 species (Chevalier, 1961), only one of them Recent (see Pillai, 1967).
