Type Locality: Lower Toarcian from Jebel Outita (Morocco)
The holotype is a sectioned specimen with a thin section. Paratypes also exist, they are named "syntypes" in Beauvais 1986.
Classification
Description
Conical to subflabelloid simple corallum, proximally slightly curved or not. Cutting calicular edge. Radial elements are straight, free, compact, smooth septa. Distal edge not observed. Septa are mainly attenuated but some inner edges are slightly enlarged. Microstructure with a continuous straight or slightly zigzag mi-septal line. No fan system observed. Hexameral symmetry. Bilateral symmetry determined by the lamellar columella. No synapticule. Endotheca not observed. Peripheral plicate wall made by abortive septa. No true epitheca s.s but the external face of the wall is very finely longitudinally striated.
Comparisons
Distinct from Distichophyllum, Coryphyllia, Axosmilia and Bathmosmilia by the possible absence of endotheca (no longitudinal section available).
