Type Specimen: Holotype; ; Not Traced; Unknown
Type Locality: Lower Hauterivian of France (Yonne).
The holotype of the type species is housed at MNHN (Paris) under B14277. Because the type material has been unavailable for study, its taxonomic assignemnt is only provisionally.
Classification
Remarks
The genus Thalamocoenia d'Orbigny represents a rather unknown taxon. Up to now, the only authors who have provided some information regarding this taxon were Milne Edwards and Haime (1851) and Milne Edwards (1857). Based on their documentations, Thalamocoenia d'Orbigny seems to closely correspond to Ovalastrea. For information regarding characteristics of Ovalastrea, see Remarks under Plesiofavia Alloiteau.
